The Silence Is Deafening: When Black Life Doesn’t Fit the Narrative
Written by Kevin Mcgary, Co-Founder of EBLM
Where are the self-proclaimed guardians of Black lives? Where’s the NAACP? Where’s Black Lives Matter? Where are Ben Crump, Jesse Jackson, or Al Sharpton with their cameras and bullhorns? Nowhere. And we all know why. Because this time, the killers weren’t white. They weren’t police. They weren’t conservatives. They were illegal aliens—a protected class in the Left’s progressive hierarchy. To call this a shame is an understatement. It’s a scandal.
It is appalling that in a time when civil rights organizations protest loudly over nearly every perceived injustice, the heinous execution of Larisha Sharell Thompson, a 40-year-old Black mother from Lancaster County, South Carolina, has been met with total, shameful silence.
Larisha was brutally gunned down. Her killers? Six illegal aliens. This horrific and entirely preventable tragedy should have ignited a firestorm of national outrage, especially from legacy civil rights organizations. Instead, we get nothing. No headlines. No marches. No press conferences. No hashtags. Just silence. Why the silence? Because her death doesn’t fit the narrative.
When a Black individual is harmed by a white person, or worse, a cop, the media circus screeches into action. Protesters are bused in. Cities are torched. Careers are ruined. And we’re bombarded with lectures on “systemic racism.” But when a Black mother is murdered by six men who never should have been in this country in the first place, the reaction is cold indifference. Silence.
Flip the script for a moment. Imagine if six white Americans had murdered a Latina mother. It would be front-page news. The outrage would be relentless. But Larisha? Ignored. Buried. Forgotten. This silence is not accidental—it’s strategic.
The open-border Left has made illegal immigrants, especially Hispanic ones, into a sacred voting bloc. They are untouchable. Even when they commit horrific crimes, they’re treated as victims. And when they end up in court, they’re often protected with lighter sentences or quietly shuffled out of the judge’s back door.
In this twisted calculus, Larisha Thompson became expendable. She didn’t fit the narrative. To the Left, she was just an “inconvenient loss,” collateral damage in their utopian dream of a borderless America.
But let’s be clear: Larisha’s death was preventable. She should still be alive. Yet, thanks to progressive policies, immigration enforcement has been gutted. ICE is handcuffed. Sanctuary cities are magnets for crime. Dangerous criminals slip through the cracks because, until recently, border security has become a political taboo.
And every Democrat politician, every open-border apologist, every activist who demonized ICE, and every journalist who buried this story—they all have blood on their hands.
They owe Larisha’s family—and every American citizen—an apology. Because this isn’t an isolated incident. Thousands of Americans, disproportionately “ethnic,” have suffered or died because of violent crimes committed by people who had no legal right to be here.
And still, the media, the Democrat Party, and race-baiting opportunists like Crump and Sharpton stay silent. Why? Because it destroys their narrative: that only white supremacy and police pose threats to Black lives.
But facts don’t care about narratives. Larisha Thompson is dead. And her life mattered.
Her death was not only a personal tragedy. It was a political failure. A failure of border policy. A failure of media integrity. A failure of the civil rights movement to stand on principle instead of Progressive politics.
At Every Black Life Matters (EBLM), we will not let her name be forgotten. We will not stay silent just because the truth is inconvenient. Open borders kill. And pretending otherwise is not compassion, it is cowardice.
Let Larisha’s name be heard. Let her story be known. Let justice be demanded—not selectively, but consistently.
Enough with the hypocrisy. Enough with the silence. If Black lives truly matter, then Larisha Sharell Thompson’s life must matter too. So must the lives of every American lost to criminal illegal aliens. It’s time to DO BETTER.
