Black History Month gives us a vital pause for reflection, learning, and inspiration in this world that is obsessed with speed. Celebrating Black History Month weaves together Black communities across the globe, revealing a shared tapestry of colonialism, discrimination, and the unwavering fight for justice. This acknowledgment strengthens the threads of understanding and support, igniting collective action and fueling the pursuit of equality and dignity for all.

A Kenyan Perspective: Shared Histories, Shared Futures

From a Kenyan viewpoint, Black History Month illuminates the shared experiences of the colonial past and the ongoing social justice battles. Drawing parallels between the activism of Black Americans and Kenya’s Mau Mau fighters or the environmental heroes, is a reminder of the importance of learning from each other’s histories.
